About Pittsburgh Developmental Consulting
Hi there! Did you just bring a new human home and have a million questions? Let me help! As an infant development expert, I work with families during the fourth trimester — those first few months after your baby is born when everything is new and can be a little overwhelming. My role is to support you as you get to know your baby. I’ll show you how to read your baby’s cues, respond in ways that support their growing brain, and create a safe, calming environment that encourages healthy development. Every family is different, but knowledge is power. I'm not here to tell you what to do, I'm here to provide support and guidance to find the routines that are the best fit for you and your family.
How does this all work? First you submit your information on this website. Then, I will call, and we will discuss your specific needs and concerns. Next, we will arrange a time for a home visit. My goal is to make things as comfortable and stress-free as possible for you and your baby. No need to clean up or have everything “just right.” This is about meeting you exactly where you are. I want to see your regular routines and share insights that could help you during your normal day-to-day stuff. Feel like your feeding position is awkward and your baby is struggling? Let me help! I can problem solve so feeding time works best for everyone. Want to hold your baby without feeling like a giraffe wearing roller skates? I got you! I can demonstrate natural positions and handling skills for newborns. How are you supposed to bathe this little human when they get so slippery in the tub? I can show you some techniques so you will be ready for their next blowout. This is also the time to ask any questions that have come up since bringing a fresh baby home...the most common question being "is it normal for my baby to..."
After this visit we will set up regular check-ins to make sure you feel supported as a new parent, are on the right track to meet milestones. This way you can get into a rhythm as a new family. The best part? You also have access to me for the next 3 months to ask any questions or just check in for validation and support. Babies do some weird and unpredictable things. Maybe you can’t figure out why it takes them so long to eat or are having trouble burping them or you aren't sure how to help them poop. It may seem like everyone has different "advice" about this stuff, but that’s where I come in. We can text, call, or set ups a virtual visit to touch base about any questions that come up. I will get back to you within 24 hours (and most likely much sooner). You also get access to my evidence-based developmental informational guides as well as recommendations for reliable social media follows, books, and podcasts.
Think of me as your partner in parenting crime...someone who understands both the science of infant development and the very real emotions of new parenthood. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. I’m here to help you feel more confident, more supported, and more connected.

ABOUT ME
FAQ
Hello! My name is Leah, and I am a certified neonatal therapist specializing in infant development. I have a master's degree in occupational therapy (OT) from the University of Pittsburgh, I am a board-certified neonatal therapist (CNT) through the Neonatal Therapy Certification Board (NTCB), and I am rounding out 15 years of experience in pediatrics. My background has been in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), newborn nurseries, and now out in the real world with new families. I believe it takes a village and having the right information before you start your journey can make all the difference. My goal is to help parents feel confident to make those first months all about getting to know your new family member.

- What age range is this for? I am here to help you with the "fourth trimester". This is a term for the first 3 months after a baby is born. It is a critical period of adjustment and development for both the infant and the parents and has a lasting impact throughout the human lifespan
- What geographic area is this for? I serve the greater Pittsburgh region, roughly 60 miles in any direction from Pittsburgh. I am open to working out an all-virtual consultation. Just ask!
- Do you take insurance? No. This is a consulting service, not healthcare.
- My friend and I are due at the same time, can we do combined sessions? That's exciting, of course! We would have to all sit down and look at our calendars, but I am happy to work that out.
- How do you accept payment? I will email you an invoice once you sign an agreement of service.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
